The Director of Programs and Fund Development (DPFD) must be committed to A Wider Bridges mission of helping LGBTQ Jews deepen their connections with Israel and Jewish peoplehood and building bridges between the diverse LGBTQ communities of Israel and North America.
The work of the DPFD will be focused in four areas, all done in concert with the Executive Director: 1. North American Programming: Spearheading the development and execution of programs and events original to A Wider Bridge, as well as cultivating the relationships that enable AWB to include partners in our programming and to co-sponsor relevant programs developed by other organizations. 2. Fund Development: Writing and editing grant proposals and reports, developing new sources of institutional funding and playing an active role in our fundraising efforts with individual donors.
3. Israel Trips: Assist with all aspects of making our trips to Israel and conferences in Israel successful. 4. Operations and Communications: Help to ensure that the organization has the right tools and infrastructure in place to manage our information, and assisting in effectively communicating our message to both external and internal audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
North American Programming: Lead the development and execution of A Wider Bridge programming nationwide, both directly and through providing direction to AWB staff in certain key locations.
Help determine the program calendaring and line-up for the organization
Shape programs in concert with Executive Director, featured guests, and co-sponsors, if any, and maintain coordination with all players
Secure venues, co-sponsor and partner organizations , presentations, and screenings
Develop program related marketing and outreach, including publicizing programs through email, Facebook, media contacts and partner organizations
Manage all aspects of logistics for programs, including needed technology, distributing publicity for other AWB events, collecting contact information, providing refreshments
Build relationships and network in with diverse organizations and community leaders in the Jewish and LGBTQ worlds.
Fund Development: Play a key role in the process of securing financial support from foundations and individual donors
Write and edit foundation grant applications and grant reports
Research new foundation grant application prospects
Track the metrics and achievements required for the grant reporting process
Cultivate, solicit and follow-up with selected individual donors through one-on-one meetings, phone, and e-mail.
Track donor prospects, donations received and participate in the donor acknowledgment process
Trips to Israel: Assist with all aspects of making our trips and conferences successful including:
Outreach and communication with prospective participants
Manage the trip registration process
Assist with marketing of the trip online and in person
Manage the scholarship application process
Build and maintain database of participants
Manage communication with participants before and after trip
Staff trip with Director and tour guide
Operations and Communications:
Create mass e-mails from time to time for local and national audiences.
Maintain and update email list; gather new contacts for list
Effectively utilize our contact management system and other information sharing tools
Assist with the preparation of materials for presentation to the Board of Directors and Advisory Board
Organizational:
Be an effective member of the leadership team of A Wider Bridge
Develop a cadre of volunteers, donors and other stakeholders in the key locations in which we do our work.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Number, quality and visibility of programs; number of attendees at programs and events; expansion of programming to new areas.
Success in fundraising from new and existing sources, both institutions and individuals
A strong network of relationships with partner organizations around the country
Major donors, volunteers and other stakeholders actively engaged with the organization
IDEAL BACKGROUND
Minimum of 5 years of work experience, including some experience in the non-profit arena.
Have at least a B.A. or B.S. from an accredited four-year college program
Some experience in program development and/or fundraising
Experience working with and/or strong knowledge of the Jewish and/or LGBTQ communities
Knowledge of and passion for Israel

Be an effective networker and relationship builder, and demonstrate an ability to maintain organizational message, communicate with diplomacy and nuance and work successfully with people and organizations of varying viewpoints. (Our partners have included LGBTQ Jewish organizations such as Keshet and Nehirim, mainstream and LGBTQ synagogues, various Jewish Federations, Israeli Consulates, Hillel chapters and other campus organizations, JCRCs, LGBTQ and Jewish Film Festivals, The New Israel Fund, AJC, AIPAC, J Street and the Israel Action Network)
Strong communication and story-telling skills, both oral and written, one on one and in public settings
Experience in grant writing and reporting and in fund development. Comfortable asking people for financial contributions
Have ability to develop and monitor a program budget
Have good technical and computer skills, including Word, Excel, Mailchimp, with ability to learn new programs
